***************************************************** **** This is a DRAFT COPY -- for DISCUSSION ONLY **** ***************************************************** Touch Technologies, Inc. IGAME PROJECT Abbreviated White Paper as of September 17, 2004 ABSTRACT This document describes the IGAME approach to Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) servers. This proprietary method reduces infrastructure requirements currently imposed on MMOGs by over 95%! DEFINITIONS USED IN THIS DOCUMENT: MMOG - Massively Multiplayer Online Game SERVER - a single server box containing multiple CPUs CLUSTER - a group of many servers boxes working together BACKGROUND The Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) market is exploding in the gaming industry. The current industry reached $600 million in 2002 in the U.S. alone and it will reach $1.5 billion by 2006. Globally, the MMOG market is expected to reach $3.2 billion by 2006. See: http://www.zona.net/company/business.html Current solutions are hardware and network intensive requiring hundreds or thousands of clustered servers in a redundant network. Each server box can handle 200-300 players. 100,000 online players require upwards of 300 server boxes and an additional 300 redundant server boxes for fail over. The cost in computer hardware, network hardware, power, air conditioning and skilled personnel is very high -- and negatively affects bottom line profits! THE IGAME SOLUTION The IGAME technology increases the number of players per box from 200-300 per box to over 10,000 per box! Handling 100,000 online players will require just 10 server boxes (20 including fail-over boxes). This represents over a 95% reduction in overhead -- and produces a very positive bottom line impact!
