Photo: Maureen McCormick To hear her tell it, Maureen McCormick has been in another world since starting on Passions. "It's been a whirlwind," the former Brady Bunch star (she was Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!) says. "It's a whole different type of shooting schedule; very fast-paced. It's a little overwhelming."

Since she's playing Gwen's mother, Rebecca Hotchkiss, McCormick's principal co-star is Liza Huber, "who is just a sweetheart," she says. "Susan (Lucci) did a great job raising her." As for the rest of her cast mates, McCormick confesses that, just like a new soap viewer, She just knows everyone by their character name.

McCormick's foray into daytime "is something that just popped out. They called and said, 'Go take a meeting with the producer and casting." I did, we went in, we talked, they told me about the character, and I saw immediately how fun it would be to play somebody who's really bitchy, controlling, manipulative, cold and calculating." But, McCormick admits, "I've never really been into soaps a whole lot. I have to say, years ago, I remember the whole Luke and Laura thing, and there was actually a soap that I watched for a short time...when Robin Wright was doing Santa Barbara (as Kelly Capwell). I was just really amazed by her truthfulness and honesty."

McCormick is the third Brady Bunch alum to do soaps: Barry Williams (Greg) had a brief role as Hannibal on General Hospital in 1984, and Christopher Knight (Peter) played Leigh Hobson on Another World in 1980.
