Selecting Email Query from the main menu will open a
new window entitled PostalCare Email Query.
8.2 Performing an Email Query
Up to 5 recipient (From) and sender (To) email addresses can be entered to query PostalCare at a time. Email addresses must be entered in the correct format to perform a successful query. For example:
[email protected] |
Administrators have a wildcard (*) as the default entry in both the From and To address fields for the first entry. When a query is performed with both wildcards, the results returned will be for all senders to all recipients.
Users can perform a wildcard (*) query on all senders who have sent email to them. The To field contains the user's email address by default and cannot be modified.
The wildcard (*) can also be used for the first part of an email address before the "@" sign, and also for the last part after the "@" sign. For example:
*@hotmail.com or sender@* |
Once the addresses are entered into the form, select one of the 3 query result options to view:
Then click on the Submit Query button. A new window
will open containing the query results.
8.3 Email Query Results
A maximum of 250 results can be displayed at a time. If the email query you perform returns more than 250 results, you might try narrowing your query parameters if possible. For example, if you performed a query on 5 To and From address combinations, try doing only 1 or 2 at a time. Or, if you used the wildcard (*) in one of the address fields, try entering a specific email address to query.

The option to Create a Printable Report in .RTF format
is available in the Email Query Results table heading.
Selecting Spammer Query from the main menu will open up a new window entitled Spammer Query Form.
The Spammer Query Form is where you can type in up to 5 email
addresses to query the list of known spammers stored in
PostalCare. If an address is found to be on the list of known spammers
you will have the option in the Spammer Query Result
window to remove it from the list, or remove it from the list and
whitelist it to avoid the address from being labeled a spammer again.
9.2 Performing a Spammer Query
To find out if a specific email address is in the list of known
spammers, type it into the first field on the Spammer Query Form
window, then click on the Submit Query button.
The window will refresh, and the results will be displayed in the
Spammer Query Results window. The most recent results
will be displayed first.
9.2.1 Using the Wildcard (*) in a Spammer Query
The wildcard (*) symbol can be used by itself to
perform a query on the entire known spammer list. Only 1 wildcard (*)
can be used per entry.
For example:
jim@* ji*@hotmail.com *@psicorps.com |
The more characters you include in the query, the better chance you will have at finding the results you are looking for. |
The maximum number of records that can be retrieved and displayed at
one time is 250.
9.3 Spammer Query Results
When a Spammer Query is submitted, the Spammer Query
Results window will open and display the results of the query.
The Spammer Query Results table displays the results from the specific query performed in the Spammer Query Form. Along with the details displayed for each result returned, the option to remove the sender from the list of known spammers is available, or to add the sender to the Whitelist (which automatically removes them from the list of known spammers). These options are available under the Action column heading.
The list is displayed in alphabetical order by the sender email address (From column).
The option to Create a Printable Report is available in the Spammer
Query Results table heading. A printable .RTF file will be generated
containing the latest data available.
