20.1.2.1 PostalCare Receiver Message Trace

The PostalCare Receiver Message Trace table displays information on a special email to trace the PostalCare Receiver program processing the email. This feature is used as a technical support tool.

To send a message trace email (for technical support), send an email to an address inside this organization. The subject line must start with the following text:


  ::postalcare trace 

This text is not case sensitive. You can have anything else in the subject line after the ::postalcare trace text.

A PostalCare Receiver Message Trace looks like:

If the email is not blocked/labeled as spam, it is sent on to the PostalCare Forwarder program for further processing.

20.1.3 PostalCare Forwarder Health Statistics

The PostalCare Forwarder table displays the current and total statistics for the PostalCare Forwarder program. These statistics are used for PostalCare technical support purposes. The statistics displayed are:

Statistic Description
Processed Transactions/Sec The speed at which email transactions are being processed by the forwarder program. The total column displays the average speed that transactions are processed.
Processed Email/Sec The speed at which emails are being processed by the forwarder program. The total column displays the average speed that emails are processed.
Elapsed Time The amount of time that has elapsed (in seconds) from the last time the statistics were updated. The total column displays how long the PostalCare Forwarder program has been running.
Processed Transactions The number of transactions currently being processed. The total column displays the total number of transactions processed since the statistics were last reset.
Email The number of emails currently being processed. The total column displays total number of emails processed since the statistics were last reset.
Spam The current number of spam emails being processed if the action of the Mail from Known Spammer policy is to label the email as spam. The total column displays the total number of spam emails being processed as a result of the known spammer policy.
Blocked The current number of blocked emails being processed if the action of the Mail from Known Spammer policy is to block the email. The total column displays the total number of blocked emails being processed as a result of the known spammer policy. If data is displayed in both the Spam and Blocked rows, it means at some point the known spammer policy action was changed from spam to blocked or vice versa.
Delivered The number of emails currently being delivered. The total column displays the total number of delivered (good) emails processed since the statistics were last reset.
Transactions Pending The current number of emails waiting for the Email Delivery Delay Interval time period before processing is complete.
Pending Analysis Time The length of time it takes the forwarder program to determine how many records are out there.

Note: If the PostalCare Forwarder program is not running, a message will be displayed in the table.

20.1.4 Real SMTP Server Health Statistics

The Real SMTP Server table displays the current and total statistics for the Real SMTP Server. These statistics are used for PostalCare technical support purposes. The statistics displayed are:

Statistic Description
Transactions Requested to Send The current and total number of transactions that the PostalCare Forwarder program has been given to send on to the real SMTP server.
Transactions Sent The current number of transactions being sent to the real SMTP server from the PostalCare Forwarder program. The total column displays the total number of transactions sent.
Permanent Transaction Send Failures The current number of transactions sent to the real SMTP server that have been rejected for some reason. The total column displays the total number of transactions sent that have been rejected by the real SMTP server.
Transactions Waiting to Send The current number of transactions that are waiting to be sent from the PostalCare Forwarder program to the real SMTP server.
Retry Queue Over Max The current and total number of transactions temporarily rejected because the retry queue has reached the maximum number allowed.
Retries Pending The current number of transactions on the retry queue. The total column displays the total number of transactions that have been placed on the retry queue.
Transactions Failed After Max Retries The current number of transactions that failed to be sent to the real SMTP server after the maximum number of times allowed to be on the retry queue. The total column displays the total number of transactions that failed to be sent.
Transactions Discarded (No Recipients) The current and total number of transactions that have been discarded due to there being no email recipients specified when being sent to the real SMTP server.
Transactions Discarded (Tried All Alternates) The current and total number of transactions discarded after all real SMTP servers have been tried unsuccessfully. (PostalCare provides the ability for this organization to specify more than 1 real SMTP server.)

20.1.4.1 PostalCare Forwarder Message Trace

The PostalCare Forwarder Message Trace table displays information on a special email to trace the PostalCare Forwarder program processing the email. This feature is used as a technical support tool.

20.1.5 PostalCare Handler Statistics

The PostalCare Handler table displays the current and total statistics for the PostalCare Handler program. If more than one instance of the PostalCare Handler program is running, a table is displayed for each one. The handler program is what runs the PostalCare web interface. These statistics are used for PostalCare technical support purposes. The statistics displayed are:

Statistic Description
Requests/Sec The current number of user requests received per second. A user request is any user action that causes a webpage to submit or update. The total column displays the average number of user requests received per second.
Requests The current number of user requests received. The total column displays the total number of user requests received since statistics were last reset.
Elapsed Time The current number of seconds that the handler has been busy processing requests. The total column displays the total time in seconds that the handler was busy processing requests.
Idle Time The current number of seconds that the handler has been idle with no user requests. The total column displays the total number of seconds the handler has been idle.
